Shouldn't we care?
I'm amazed at how little I care somtimes. The fact that it takes a graphic newscast to really focus my attention on an issue, or a natural disaster is so frustrating!
I'm reminded of the camera man charcter that Joquin Phoenix played in "Hotel Rwanda". Paul, the hotel manager, was so glad that Joquin's character was going to show pictures of the Rwandan massacre on a newscast, thinking tha people would then force their country to get involved and help stop the massacre. The camera man commented that people would "probably say 'that's aweful what's going on', and the go on eating their dinner". I don't want to be like that - but I often am.
